Family Fun in Ashton

Saturday, we spent the day at Tyson's grandparent's house. Tyson's brother Trevor just got back from his mission and all the cousins wanted to see him. Here are just a few highlights:

One of Tyson's cousins wrote a play and had everyone act in it. It was about a gingerbread baby. It was so cute! Here are a few pictures:

Tyson and his sister Katie. They were the farmer and the farmer's wife!

Here are two cute lil' bunnies with the gingerbread baby.

The king and queen are on the chase to get the gingerbread baby!

The wolf and gingerbread baby!!!

And here are just some random cute ones of VERY cute cousins:

Then they all got together and played a big football game-

It was a blast! I feel so blessed to have married into such a fun family.

"...the Lord is able to do all things according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be they excercise faith in him..." 1 Nephi 7:12

As of late, I have had time to reflect on Life.
How GRATEFUL I am, for the knowledge that I have that we have a Father in Heaven and he is very involved in the details of our lives. We are not alone.
This was reaffirmed to me this last week.

July 30, 2010:
My family and I were in St. George, Utah at our "Phillips' Family Reunion"! (Which is my mom's family.)
We all were arriving at the LDS church building near my grandparent's house for a day of games and crafts. Not very long after we arrived, My grandpa started having chest pains and getting out of breath. Then, it got worse, his arms starting going numb and the pain worsened. He called for my grandmother and she rushed him to the hospital. Which was luckily, near the church. He was rushed in and stabilized but he did indeed suffer a massive heart attack.
I'm sure many of you have had a loved one go through something like this. So, you know how hard and scary it is.
It was truly so scary and we were all sick with worry. We gathered together as a family and had a prayer for him. Its hard to describe how touching it was to gather as a family in prayer. Many of us aren't LDS and we all don't share common beliefs but we came together in the unity of love. And all our hearts turned to our Father in Heaven for help. We relied on him. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed. It meant a lot to me to see this family that I love unified in such a way. It was a little bit of heaven for me.
Since then, my grandfather has had open heart surgery-4 bypasses. We are so grateful he is still with us.
This reunion was a special one. My testimony was strengthened as I witnessed God doing a marvelous work in our family and in my heart.
My grandpa is doing well and I thank God for that. But if he wouldn't have made it, I find peace in the knowledge that he is my grandpa forever.
And I truly thank God for that.

"Some primal termite knocked on wood; and tasted it, and found it good." -Ogden Nash

This is Gus Gus. Yes, we named him. (and yes it is just a random picture from google images-but he represents Gus Gus, who I have NO desire to take a picture of). Well, he decided to eat the wood in our home. He has THOUSANDS of family members that have joined him on this endeavor. We hate them. We are moving. Just thought I would let you know....

Take a look at THIS!

This is 48 boxes of cereal which we got for a knock your socks off deal! Allow me to explain...

My mother-in-law and a lady in her ward are amazingly good at coupons. They get good deals all the time! This time, they were kind enough to bring me along. :) :) :)
So, Albertsons runs a deal for certain kinds of cereal- A box is $2.50 BUT if you buy them in sets of 8, they are reduced to 1.50 a box.
Then, they printed a bunch of manufacturer's coupons from the internet for $1.00 off 2 boxes of certain cereals. THEN Albertsons had run a deal in the their coupons that they will double any manufacturers coupons up to a $1.00. (3 doubles per transaction).
So, what did we do? We bought cereal that fell under both the manefacturer's coupons and the $2.50 a box deal. BUT we bought them in sets of 8 which meant that they were then $1.50 a box. Then we used the doubler coupons and doubled the discount on 3 coupons for every 8 boxes we bought. Are you following?
So, we ended up paying about 68 cents a box and saved over $150.00 dollars! AMAZING OR WHAT!?!?! To me, this is crazy! mind boggling! I really love having a SUPER smart mother-in-law. I totally recommend them! :)
